SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
TO: Our St. Peter’s and Holy Trinity donors and parishioners
St. Peter’s Conference of SVDP needs your help!
Without your help we may have to disband our conference
and cease operations in Nanaimo.
Briefly stated, we are very fortunate to have great financial support from our two parishes and a large number of volunteers who are committed and active in the services we provide to the poor.
What we don’t have, and what we must have, are members to conduct the business of the Conference. We need members to serve in the executive positions – President, Secretary, Treasurer, etc., and enough members to provide a quorum at our monthly meetings so that business can be conducted. Without the leadership of an executive group and a quorum at our regular meetings, our Conference cannot discharge its financial and legal responsibilities.
If this were to happen, our conference would have to disband.
This is particularly sad as it would directly affect the families who depend on our support, as well as remove our critical funding support to the organizations that are providing much-needed food to schoolchildren, youth in care, and transition facilities in Nanaimo
We need your ideas and your support, please!
On Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Holy Trinity Church we will hold a gathering where we hope people will join us to share ideas, expertise, and support. The outcome of this activity will determine the future of St. Peter’s Conference in Nanaimo. Father Harrison Ayre will provide a reflection. We hope you can be there. Please spread the word!
Thank you,
Donelda Lapointe
President, St. Peter’s Conference
Development and Peace is the official international development organization of the Catholic Church in Canada, and the Canadian member of Caritas Internationalis. It is known for its strong support of social justice issues through a broad array of International Programs.
Trinity Catholic has been a faithful supporter of Development and Peace initiatives, with regular collections for Share Lent yearly, and for Emergency Relief Programs as they arise around the world. At this time we are in need of a Development & Peace parish representative to promote these efforts. If you feel strongly about the good works that they do this may be the right spot for you. Please contact the office at 250 390-2612 or speak with Fr. Jozef if you would like to know more.
