The NECS started in 1979
as an equal collaboration between
the Trinity Catholic and Trinity United faith communities.
The purposes of the Society included promotion of the purposes of the Christian Ecumenical movement,
the Trinity United Pastoral Charge,
and the Trinity Catholic Parish;
by providing and maintaining lands, buildings, and services
for the operation of the Ecumenical Centre.
All members of the Trinity Catholic Parish
and Trinity United Pastoral Charge
were members of the NEC Society.
The Governors of the Society consisted of six appointed members plus the principal Minister or Priest from each faith community—fourteen governors in total.
This shared 42 year ecumenical experience under the umbrella
of the Nanaimo Ecumenical Centre (NEC) ended in 2021
when Trinity United moved to a new location.
And Trinity Catholic was renamed Holy Trinity Catholic.
The parishioners of Holy Trinity Catholic
miss their Ecumenical sister and wish her
all of Gods' blessings
in her new home and future spiritual journeys.
